Grade

Type 0

This grade is an ASTM specification requiring a hot dipped galvanized coating over low to medium carbon steel. This grade is slightly stronger than SAE grade 2 strength.

Type 1

This grade is an ASTM specification requiring a hot dipped galvanized coating over medium carbon steel quenched and tempered. This grade is similar in strength to SAE grade 5.

Material

Steel

Steel is the most common fastener material due to its strength properties. Unalloyed steel may be surface treated to enhance corrosion resistance and other desirable properties.
